  • ...but nothing that the local Barnes & Noble rolls out will ever compare to this beautiful bookstore in Romania transformed from a monument. They claim it’s a bookstore, but it looks kind of how I envision heaven. It features sweeping designs that integrate older aspects of the monument with more futuristic, modern concepts, and the whole thing is bathed in white light, making its name, “Carousel of Light”, quite fitting. Just staring at the pictures, I already see approximately a thousand places I want to sit my butt down and read something. It has six floors and its own bistro in addition to the 10,000 books it can hold. So basically it has any bookstore I’ve ever visited beat on all counts.
  • The stunning bookstore is called Cărtureşti Carusel, or "The Carousel of Light," which was originally built in the 1900's and was previously owned by bankers. Now, it is a bookstore with a new owner that wants to offer something not usually found in a regular bookstore
  • The 19th century building has been transformed into a truly magical book store with 6 floors and over 10,000 books to choose from. Thats not all that this amazing place has to offer though. There is a bistro on the top floor and even an art gallery on the first floor. It’s great to see that although the building has been refurbished, it’s not lost any of its original character and charm.
  • Cărtureşti Carusel, also called “The Carousel of Light” – a beautiful bookshop opened in an elegant 19th-century building (newly renovated), in the heart of Bucharest.
  • Just like this enchanted library/bookstore located in the heart of Bucharest in Eastern Europe, “The Carousel of Light.” This is one of the most beautiful bookstores I’ve ever seen.
  • Our eyes tear up with the sight of a thousand square meters (10 764 sq.ft.) dedicated to 10,000 books, music and a bistro. Add to this the magical staircases, the incredible height of the space, the classy use of white and wood, and we are delighted. The space lends itself well to events and gatherings as the heavily attended opening event proved.
  • This beautiful book gallery calls to mind other stunning architectural landmarks — both real and fictional. The magnificent whitewashed columns with ornate carvings are reminiscent of a pristine Parthenon at the height of its glory. The multi-storied walkways and stately staircases evoke a presidential, Library of Congress feel. And the open floor plan and towering rows of books hearken back to the magical castle library from Beauty and the Beast. It’s inevitable that the Carousel of Light will similarly offer visitors magical experiences.
  • The new Carturesti location is an experiment of cultural inhabiting the old center and offers dedicated spaces for reading, socializing, and artistic exploration. The building also has a bistro at its top level, a multimedia center in the basement and a contemporary art gallery at the 1st level.

  • Book lovers have a new reason to put Bucharest, Romania on their list of places to travel. A 19th century building has been transformed into a gorgeous modern bookstore called Cărturești Carusel, “The Carousel of Light.”
  • A bookstore is more than a space where books are sold. When it looks like ‘Carousel of Light‘, the act of reading becomes a wonderful, unique experience. As the owner explains, the new Carturesti Bookstore in Bucharest, a 6-level construction represents an experiment of ‘cultural habitation’ in the ancient center of Bucharest, capital of Romania.
  • This six-level architectural wonder features all-white intricate constructions and wooden bookshelves which are capable of holding 10,000 books. It likewise has a bistro, an abundant media collection space, and a contemporary art gallery.
  • The latest jaw-dropping bookshop to grace the planet is Cărtureşti Carusel (The Carousel of Light). [...] The 6 majestic floors will house books, music and DVD’s, a cafe, a multimedia event space and an art gallery.
  • This Made in Romania project emphasizes the beauty of the former bank which has an exquisite architecture that has been treated with great respect through its restoration.
  • ...this bookstore will surely blend in with its innovative and elegant style.
